In this city, even the stones are imbued with the spirit of the story. Indeed, Cavtat has been known since ancient times as Epidaurus, an ancient Greek colony. And today we can see part of the aqueduct connecting the early Epidaurus with the village of Vodovadya providing water. Since 1426 the city became part of the Republic of Dubrovnik. And today there is the preserved buildings of this era, connecting the Renaissance with elements of Gothic architecture. By the remains of an ancient staircase you can climb the hill that was used, according to legends, the foundation of the temple of Asclepius and, later, the Forum of Augustus.
